On Saturday 22nd May the Food team hit the high street to tell everyone about all PEDAL’s new food projects. We had a wee stall with bunting and knitted vegetables (thanks Jane for the knitted veg!). Anyone who stopped to talk to us and filled in our survey could take away their choice of vegetable and herb seedling, ranging from leeks, lettuces and kale to purple kalabash tomatoes. It was a beautiful day and the shade from the trees on the high street was very welcome, who would have thought it — summer in Scotland! A total of 55 Porty people told us what they would like to see on the Dig In Porty! training courses, and signed up for more information on Fruitful Porty, the Portobello Organic Market, Portobello Community Farm, the Edinburgh Garden Share Scheme and Solar Porty. If you missed out and would like to know more about what we are doing this year, keep your eye on the website (we will be adding pages on all the projects very soon) and look out for events and displays around Portobello. If you live in Portobello, there will also be a leaflet all about the first few food projects coming to your house via the Portobello Reporter any day now!
